Worship Ministries

"Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord." -- Romans 12:11
Worship ministries range from serving at the altar on Sundays to working the church grounds on Mondays. Members use their time, talent, and treasure to service the Church and any of the Church's needs in order to maintain functionality and sustainability of All Saints' Church & Preschool. Above all else, the PEOPLE are the Church - it is with loving care that these members tend to the House that holds them and to the brothers and sisters beside them.

Acolytes

Picture
At All Saints' Episcopal Church, acolytes are present at the 9:30 am Sunday service and other special services.  Traditionally, acolytes start serving at the age of 10, but with a willing heart and desire to serve, All Saints' has had acolytes as young as 8 years of age.  Acolytes consist of a Verger or Crucifer, Torchbearers and a Server.  Usually the first job given to a new acolyte is that of Torchbearer, and the most senior being the Server.  Acolytes light and extinguish the candles used in worship, lead the procession, Gospel Procession and recession, and the Server helps the priest prepare for communion.  During communion, acolytes assist those approaching the altar by the steps.

To join, please email church@allsaintskauai.org. You will be directed to the Ministry Leader David Crocker for more info.

Altar Guild

Picture
The Altar Guild is responsible for the care and preparation of the altar, linens, priests and servers vestments, brass, silver, candles and flowers. This is a vital behind-the-scenes ministry that requires in-depth training and a deep commitment to the care of the sacristies of the church.  Altar Guild volunteers take turns on a rotation basis to prepare for Sunday services, and also special services such as weddings and funerals.

To join, please email church@allsaintskauai.org. You will be directed to the Ministry Leader Nora Takenouchi for more info.

All Saints' Choir

Picture
The All Saints' Choir is open to anyone with a desire to praise the Lord in song, and welcomes visitors to join them when in town.  Traditional hymns are sung with an organ or piano accompaniment, and contemporary numbers are featured periodically.  The choir currently practices on Thursday evenings at 6:00 pm in the church.

For more information, contact Hank Curtis, Director of Music Ministries, by email or call (808) 822-4267.

BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS

Members of the Buildings and Grounds Ministry meet once a quarter to review the state of the church premises and ways to improve them. Many discussions focus on maintenance, beautification, and worship space enhancement projects. Current projects are the Organ Restoration Project and Kahili Project.

If you are interested in joining, please contact church@allsaintskauai.org. We will direct you to the Ministry Leader: Marge Akana.

THE DAUGHTERS OF THE KING (DOK)

Picture
The Order of the Daughters of the King® is an order for women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church, churches in communion with it, or churches in the historic episcopate but not in communion with it.

A Daughter pledges herself to a life-long program of prayer, service and evangelism. She receives support in this commitment from a worldwide community of like-minded women.

In solidarity with one another, all Daughters everywhere make the same promises upon their admission to The Order:
  • To obey the two Rules of The Order: the Rule of Prayer and the Rule of Service.
  • To offer at all times loyal aid to our clergy and parish to spread Christ’s kingdom.
  • To wear faithfully the cross of The Order.
  • To work for the purposes of The Order as God may give us the opportunity.

For more information, you may either check the Master Calendar for the next DOK meeting or email church@allsaintskauai.org. We will direct you to the Ministry Leader: Linda Crocker

Lay Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic Ministers (EM) assist the clergy during services.  A EM maybe called upon to help the priest prepare the altar for the Eucharist, read the lessons and prayers, and administer the Consecrated Elements (bread and wine) at communion.  At All Saints' Church, EMs at the 8:00AM Sunday service perform all these duties.  At the 9:30AM service, EMs read the Prayers of the People and administer the chalice at communion.

Eucharistic Visitors (EV) take and administer the Consecrated Elements to members of the congregation who, by reason of illness or infirmity, are unable to be present.

To join, please email church@allsaintskauai.org. You will be directed to the Ministry Leader Mario Antonio for more info.

MONDAY CREW

The Monday Crew is a group of dedicated members who service the church every Monday. They ensure the buildings remain clean, organized, well stocked with supplies, and maintained for regular use on Sundays. Some members help organize the weekly donations and others ensure the graveyard and Columbarium remain clean and tidy in respect for those who have passed on. Many members of the Monday Crew are also Altar Guild members. This helps them identify items that need to be restocked for Sunday Services.

After a job well done, they sometimes enjoy fellowship together with light refreshments.

If you are interested in joining and would like to learn more, please email church@allsaintskauai.org. You will be directed to the Ministry Leader Nora Takenouchi.

ORDER OF SAINT LUKE (OSL)

Picture
Members meet monthly to pray and study Scripture, specifically biblical stories of the healing miracles, as well as additional books on Christian healing.

OSL members also offer healing prayers to anyone in need during Communion at the 9:30AM service, in the adjoining chapel.

This vocation calls to do more than sponsor healing services. It also calls to seek God’s grace - to study and learn, and minister to all whom God sends. OSL is founded on the conviction that God intends for members not to be spectators but, rather, to be participants, sharing Jesus’ ministry as He comes among them to heal the sick.

To learn more about OSL or to join this ministry, e-mail Mary Schulz or call her at 826-1406.
