ABOUT THE KIA THANKSGIVING LUNCHEON
For over 20 years, the Kapa'a Interfaith Association (KIA) has served up and delivered thousands of turkey meals on Thanksgiving Day each year. The annual luncheon, held in the All Saints' Gym, is preceded by an interfaith service in the church led by most of the priests from participating churches that include All Saints' Episcopal Church, St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Kapa'a Hongwanji Mission, Kapa'a Seventh Day Adventist Church, Kapa'a United Church of Christ. Each year, funds are raised to purchase the food and supplies, and Mark Oyama and his crew from Contemporary Flavors donate their time to prepare and plate the food. All the churches take part in the organization and implementation of this event which makes set-up and breakdown quick and easy. The youth from the different churches also play a role, serving guests food and beverages and bussing tables. Home-style entertainment takes place throughout the lunch.
It's been a wonderful collaboration that the community has embraced. After 20 years, KIA is no longer having a Thanksgiving Luncheon. Mahalo to all for the support.
