KAPA‘A — “Louder!” Kevin Cartwright calls out as his fingers gently push the keys of the All Saints’ Episcopal Church pipe organ. Behind a wall in the tight pipe chamber room, his partner Morgan Byrd delicately tunes, optimizing the sound in the church. Cartwright and Byrd are with Rosales Organ Builders, the team tasked with restoring the island’s only pipe organ. And they’re working on a deadline. (Click the banner to read more) |

The Kaua‘i Community Cat Project mobile clinic crew had their hands full with 28 cats on the calendar, Tuesday during the mobile clinic’s appearance at the All Saints Gym parking area in Kapa‘a. “You should be here in the morning when the cats come in,” said Susan Scott of the KCCP. “Mornings are always crazy when the cats arrive. We have another 32 cats scheduled for Wednesday. We’re pretty much full up.” (Click the banner to read more) |
(February 27, 2020, Garden Island News) Kahu Kawika, as he is known among the church members, was at the heart of the church’s Ashes to Go, a service where busy people can receive their Ash Wednesday blessings. “We’re staying at the Kaua‘i Marriott Beach Resort, and we saw they had this service,” said Jo Roy, a visitor from New Jersey. “This made us drive out here just so we can get ashes.” (Click the banner to read more)
