WORSHIP MINISTRIES

"Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord." -- Romans 12:11
Members in the All Saints' Worship Ministry share their time, talent, and energy to serve the Church with loving care and commitment, so that we may continue to gather together in praise of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Acolytes

At All Saints' Episcopal Church, acolytes are present at the 9:30 AM Sunday service and other special services.  Traditionally, acolytes start serving at the age of 10, but with a willing heart and desire to serve, All Saints' has had acolytes as young as 8 years of age.  Acolytes consist of a Verger or Crucifer, Torchbearers and a Server.  Usually the first job given to a new acolyte is that of Torchbearer, and the most senior being the Server.  Acolytes light and extinguish the candles used in worship, lead the procession, Gospel Procession and recession, and the Server helps the priest prepare for communion.  During communion, acolytes assist those approaching the altar by the steps.

To join, please email church@allsaintskauai.org. You will be directed to the Ministry Leader David Crocker for more info.

Altar Guild

The Altar Guild is responsible for the care and preparation of the altar, linens, priests and servers vestments, brass, silver, candles and flowers. This is a vital behind-the-scenes ministry that requires in-depth training and a deep commitment to the care of the sacristies of the church.  Altar Guild volunteers take turns on a rotation basis to prepare for Sunday services, and also special services such as weddings and funerals.

To join, please email church@allsaintskauai.org. You will be directed to the Ministry Leader Nora Takenouchi for more info.

Choir

The All Saints' Choir is open to anyone with a desire to praise the Lord in song, and welcomes visitors to join them when in town.  Traditional hymns are sung with an organ or piano accompaniment, and contemporary numbers are featured periodically.  The choir currently practices on Thursday evenings at 6:00 PM in the church.

For more information, contact Hank Curtis, Director of Music Ministries, by email or call (808) 822-4267.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic Ministers (EM) assist the clergy during services.  An EM maybe called upon to help the priest prepare the altar for the Eucharist, read the lessons and prayers, and administer the Consecrated Elements (bread and wine) at communion.  At All Saints' Church, EMs at the 8:00AM Sunday service perform all these duties.  At the 9:30AM service, EMs read the Prayers of the People and administer the chalice at communion.
Eucharistic Visitors (EV) take and administer the Consecrated Elements to members of the congregation who, by reason of illness or infirmity, are unable to be present.

To join, please email church@allsaintskauai.org. You will be directed to the Ministry Leader Mario Antonio for more info.

Lay Readers

During the 8:00AM Sunday service, the Lay Eucharistic Minister reads the Old Testament lesson, New Testament lesson, Psalm, and the Prayers of the People.  During the 9:30AM Sunday service, Lay Readers are volunteers who have expressed a desire to contribute to the service in this way, and there is no age requirement. Two Lay Readers are assigned to the 9:30AM service.  One reads the Old Testament lesson and the Psalm, and the second person reads the New Testament lesson.

To join, please email church@allsaintskauai.org for more info.

Ushers

Our ushers are eager to welcome all parish members and visitors to worship services.  Visitors are greeted with a colorful yarn lei lovingly made by a dedicated group of volunteers.  Ushers also prepare the church for service, checking to see that there are enough bulletins and that the welcome table is set up.  Ushers are responsible for counting attendees, the offertory and controlling the pews for communion. They also straighten and lock up the Church after the service.

To join, please email church@allsaintskauai.org. You will be directed to the Ministry Leader Bara Sargent for more info.
