Earlier this summer, All Saints' launched a bold initiative to develop a ministry internship program. Since June, applicants from all over the United States submitted applications to participate in the year long experience. "I am honored and proud to announce that Sierra Gore has been named the inaugural "Ministry Intern" at All Saints', said Father Ryan. "First and foremost, Sierra is here to learn about ordained and lay ministries, to discern her own vocational call, and to explore the diversity of ministries offered at All Saints. Sierra is also here to serve-to offer her time, talents, and energy to supporting and growing the ministries of All Saints." Sierra will join the All Saints' 'Ohana in late August-just in time to attend the 'Ohana Retreat in Kokee. She will serve for a year and will have the option to extend her internship another year pending Vestry approval. The vision of the Ministry Internship Program is to offer a year of education, service, and discernment to a young adult interested in exploring a vocation in ordained or lay ministry, education, and outreach. "I am excited about the program and the opportunity to support, mentor, and empower future leaders in the Episcopal Church," said Father Ryan. "Sierra's service and leadership will also provide added people resources to the All Saints' Staff as we look to grow our ministries and increase our outreach to the community. Her extensive background working with and ministering to children and youth will be a vital asset to the 'Ohana." In her role, Sierra will serve All Saints' approximately 32-40 hours a week. She will be mentored by Father Ryan and will be given every opportunity to explore the ministries of All Saints' and to make a lasting impact on our 'Ohana and the greater Kauai community. Sierra will have four required "foundational" service responsibilities: (1) Youth Ministry, (2) Elementary Christian Education, (3) Outreach; and, (4) Worship Ministries. In addition, Sierra will work with Fr. Ryan to identify other areas of interest and service. When you meet Sierra, please extend your warmest All Saints' aloha welcome! We give thanks for God calling Sierra to All Saints' and we pray for her continuing growth and discernment. In Her own Words . . .Meet Sierra Gore Hello All Saints'! I'm Sierra Gore and I am extremely excited to be your new Ministry Intern and I cannot wait to meet and get to know you all. Thank you for welcoming me with open arms. Some background on me: I am a 23 year-old Midwest native, I grew up in Belleville, IL with my mom and two younger sisters, Zoë and Katara. After two years at the University of Missouri I decided to leave school and focus on what truly makes me happy. Namely, I started spending more time outside and back in church, or sometimes blending the two together. I' ve now worked for four different Episcopal camps around the country, most recently as Director of Explorers' Camp for Shrine Mont Camps in Virginia. I love being outside hiking or any paddle sports, ice cream, spur of the moment dance parties, and conversations about theology and faith practices. I love seeing God work through people, which is part of the reason I feel called to All Saints'. I'm looking forward to seeing what your ministry looks like already and adding my voice. Like I said, I can't wait to meet you all. I'm very open to getting coffee or ice cream and hearing why you love All Saints' so much. Sincerely, Sierra Gore
